Re: Project Genesis Videos
It was mate to be honest although when you see the Voyager come down the slope and then level out, it isn't too fierce. As Scott has said, Trainz does do gradients much better as they curve naturally but nothing is perfect.

Re: Project Genesis Videos
It is a pity that the track isn't flexible in 3 dimensions so it just follows the terrain naturally, then we could have some lovely super elevation!

They are the Cleveland Potash FACS wagon from the German pack. Jay did them as a request for me a long, long time ago before the carry on.

hmmmmm , reskins from jay , he did used to do alot for us didnt he , shame we all had to kick him when he was down , owell , whats done is done , lest we forgive and forget ,
i take it that this is payware ? if so will it be better than newc york mod ? i mean no offence , and i apreshiate that many hours were put into it , but for what it was it could have been a little better ,
again .... no offence intended , there are serious questions and ones i think are relevant ,
and will it be a route where a thousand diffrent assets are needed from other places , or have you kept foreign assets to a minimum ? again i apreshiate that other assets will be needed as RW doesnt have too many , but its still a question i and im sure others would like answered
anyway , back to the route , its looking good , i hope to see more of it
on another note , could you gove some details , like will it have x amount of yards and depots , will it have x amount of electrified track and such ?

Absolutely nothing to do with this thread mate, don't start on me on here as well.

Nope, freeware. See here and look at the very first post, all is revealed. Any questions about Newc - York Modern are can always be emailed/PM'd to me, I am happy to answer anything.

Nope, all assets will be included, no downloads will be required whatsoever.

Thankyou, more will be revealed in due course.

No idea as yet, as mentioned in the blog, it is a project intended to be done over the year, who knows how far it will go.

Re: Project Genesis Videos
whos starting ? , i think were all guilty in that respect , so dont accuse as its not fair , i mean most people know when im not happy lol and that post wasnt any reflection of that , infact the whole thread was neutral , and in no way does it point to anyone, well accept the questions lol
im in a good mood today and intend to keep it that way , and i honestly do think the route is comming on well , i will offer my apologies to what happened on the other forum , im the type of guy who defends the weak , which is the whole reason i became a soldier , and when seeing jay being slagged off as he was my natural reaction was to defend , and as i was getting more and more aggitated i got carried away , but that was days ago , and personally i had forgotten about it about an hour later , all water under the bridge so to say , and i hope you can see it from my point of view , it takes alot for me to apologise so i hope you see this as a peace offering
and also , i know you said its ongoing , but in your head , how large do you plan to goo , i mean RW must have its limitations right

Re: Project Genesis Videos
Well, I sort of gathered the first post was directed at me and the handbags we had the other week. Forgotten as far as I am concerned though, there isn't much point in bickering so that is the last on the matter from me.
Anyway, back the route.
I have a figure in my head of where I would like to get to but it all depends on what sort of time I can devote to it over the next 11 months or so. Unfortunately I am not going to reveal that figure, if I said it, people would expect it! As for RW limitations, apparently, the hypothetical maximum before problems start is around 600 miles but that all depends on the system it is running on as well.

Re: Project Genesis Videos
so if im right .... your working on sections , like from one town to another , then detailing , then on to the next town and detail again , so when it comes to the end of the year you wont have miles and miles of track with no scenery ?

Re: Project Genesis Videos
Basically yes, although trying not to go from town to town before doing scenery, more like mile by mile where possible. Another reason for that is if I do say 140 miles and then don't have time to spend on it afterwards, the route can still be released fully scenerised.

Re: Project Genesis Videos
i suppose thats the best way , anyway , im a freight person , will this route have pleanty of scope for that kinda thing or are you making it more commuter orientated ?

Re: Project Genesis Videos
Both.
So far, there is a potash mine located on the coastal branch which in theory, is around 1hr 20 minutes from Castlegate at freight speeds. There is also a road/rail container terminal at a place called Feckleton (think somewhere in the region of Malton, between Scarborough and York) which will be a single branch off the main line, going under and then swinging around back towards the line.
Those are the only two that will be on phase one but more are planned.

what do you mean by phase ?

Re: Project Genesis Videos
Well, phase one is the line from Tilhoughton to Castlegate, a line loosely resembling the distance from York to Scarborough. I want to get that completed first and then that will go to the beta testers. That "phase" is around 42 miles but not generally high speed and also has the 11 mile coastal branch so around 53 miles altogether.
Phase two is planned to be an ECML type stretch for high speed running along with a "Cross City" type line around the Castlegate area.
Ideally, I want to at least get coast to coast to a fictional location situated somewhere like Blackpool along with the ECML stretch which would also take in somewhere the size of Leeds.

Re: Project Genesis Videos
Just to add, I don't plan on making the ECML stretch too long, I much prefer secondary lines but the idea is this:-
Maybe a scenario starting from a depot based similarly to Neville Hill, Leeds, run ECS to Castlegate (maybe 20 minutes or so) then start your duties. I have also included a DMU depot at Castlegate for similar situations rather than just the generic station to station routine.

Re: Project Genesis Videos
hmm , interesting , i think that would be better , i prefere realistic operations , station to station holds no appeal to me at all , but having to move from depot to station do my duties and then return would make me lean slightly to the commuter side lol , im gunna be watching this closely from now on , i look forward to progress
