New Members Icon_biggrin At Shikaris' suggestion, I'll introduce myself. I'm new to content creation but have built things for my own use, in FS9, FSX,Trainz and an exporter test into RS and Railworks. I started with Gmax by following Paul Hobbs's great tutorials and then also following Pauls tutorials got into Blender which I really like to use but sometimes have to export via Gmax to FS9, FSX for animations. Henning is in the process of making a new Railworks exporter for Blender, at last.
I have not yet produced freeware because I am a little wary of using copyrighted material, textures, gauges, panels, sounds etc. So I "roll my own", which takes a lot longer!
I have a background of 40 years in electronics, computing, design, prototyping through to production, am semi retired and run my own office cleaning business, which I find, is a nice change of pace. So a belated, Happy New Year to all members and oh yes, stay warm!

Hi grumplstink,

thanks for the intro. Look forward to seeing some of your freebies.

I'm also new to RW and are having a go at creating my first route, which for a 1st route is a bit of a beast. I hope to semi replicate the WCML (West Coast Mainline) from Euston to Liverpool, version 1 Tamworth -Rugby is about 80% done. To actually complete the whole route is going to months if not years.

Hope you are open to some simple requests? I could do with some assets making for my route.

If you wish to follow progress check it out HERE

Regards

Paul

New Members Icon_biggrin zrxmerlin,....Paul, your route looks very good. When the new Blender exporter is working, we'll see if I can help with simple requests. Although if there's no animation the old exporter may do the job. Good pics and info on what you're after, will help start the ball rolling.

Hiya,

Can confirm that the old blender exporter does work just not for animation.

My process is build in sketchup then export as 3ds, import into blender, tidy up and rename what i need to then export as a igs/iga New Members Icon_wink

New Members Icon_biggrin Many thanks Chrisrose, yes you're quite correct, I use it on Blender 2.47, but I found using it on 2.48a, and 2.49b a problem. Fortunately BRHenning on UKtrainsim, is making a new RW exporter for the later versions of Blender, it"ll handle animations and has quite a few extra capabilities...he's calling it Bigex! ... due out any time now. So hopefully we'll have more Blender users building content for RW New Members Icon_cheers

Off the subject, I used to live, just off Collier Row, Romford, nice place, used to nip down to Southend at the weekends...oh memories. Stay warm over there. (sorry couldn't resist that) LOL

Hi there!
Just joined tonight after following some links and finding those amazing Virgin 37s!
Not much of a asset creator but I have started work (it has been put on hold for a bit) on a fictitious RNAD depot, based vaguely between Dean Hill and Trecwn.
